It's Monday and it's only 4 more sleeps til' Christmas!
I cannot believe how quickly this month has flown by, we have been so busy prepping and making gifts that I almost didn't have time to write this post. I have loads more to do, so today is going to be a shorter post, with links to other information and pics of course!
Youtube has become such a huge phenomenon and if you have a Youtuber in your life, you may not realize it or have even thought of it but there is a very easy gift option for you to DIY, (or buy) and it will be much appreciated.
Most Youtuber's like to change things up and keep things fresh, a great way to do this is?
Drum-roll please...
Backgrounds!
Yes, backgrounds, and I have scoured the internet for you so you can make a nice one and give it as a gift to that special Youtuber in need.
I am presently working on some backgrounds myself, however, the holidays have me doing so much that I was not able to get my project done in time for this post. Waaaah...
I did want to do this though, seeing as it was something I mentioned in the first DIY breakdown for this series, and I found some really great ideas that come from other bloggers. So, why not bring it all together here, share their talent, and give you an opportunity to make something fun while there is still some time.
Let's start with this floating confetti booth, I like it because it's bright, happy, super duper easy, and can be made quickly with any colour scheme you like. Here's a pic, it's by Kelly at Studio DIY, and I linked the site for the how to, down below it.

If you are good with your hands and are not afraid to bust out some tools, I found this beautiful, simple, colour it how you like, pallet backdrop. It's from Cape 27 blog and the link follows after the pic.

I know you may need loads of inspiration and ideas, so I snagged these last one's for you because there is so much variety. It's a post from Candace Lowry at Buzzfeed; these are not expensive either, so you can stay on budget and have fun!

Kristen Duke from Capturing Joy has some seriously fun ideas that include some upcycling which I am a big fan of. Check it out:

I am leaving you with some Etsy links, in case you prefer to buy your backdrop and my humble DIY backdrop project beginnings and a quick breakdown of what I have planned. I will do a follow-up post when this is finally completed.

There's loads more options but you can search Etsy and find what works best for the person you are looking to get something for.
For my background I thought that I could reuse all the old cardboard notepad backs I used to gather at an old job I worked at. I am using some for wedding decorations I want to make but there's plenty left and it's perfect for a DIY Youtube backdrop project.
I have cut out about 100 stars, in different sizes, you can see the larger one's in the picture above. These I have painted, allowed to semi dry, then placed something heavy on them, to prevent the cardboard from warping and curling at the ends. I plan on using little circles of Velcro, gluing them to the backs and gluing the other Velcro part to a piece of 1.5 meter white, not see-through material, so I can hang them up on it. Using the Velcro allows me to change the backdrop decorations, place things like letters and words above, while allowing me to use items I already have. One of the things I want to do is make flowers with Velcro backs so I can use those too and I may use some other fun pictures.
I like the idea of using the Velcro because I am not stuck with only one background design, it's inexpensive as I purchase them at the dollar store, (along with the paint I use) I get to stagger the placement to suit my needs, and it pushes me to be more creative so I get a visually appealing and stunning backdrop. The material I purchased from a fabric store in the reductions department for $3/meter. I bought 2 meters just to be sure and I am going to hang it on bamboo rods you can get in China town, I got them from someone for free after seeing them collect dust in a corner, and asking if it was alright to have them. Putting them on the rod will allow me to hang the backdrop more easily and roll it up for storage. I promise I will link all this with picture breakdown, when I finally have a chance to get to it.
I am off to bake, have an awesome start to the week and God bless you!
