Kiss My Berries Smoothie

Morning sweet one's!
I am really busy with the new blog, trying to figure out Etsy-if it's really best for my business, as well as the bunch of prep tasks for descriptions & other important stuff. I was away for a few days and I worked a bit but rested more than anything, I needed the country time. I will share some fun stuff from that trip in a later post.
Today is a recipe for this delicious antioxidant, super healthy, tasty and easy smoothie. I used Bao Bab powder to give my body an extra boost, as a super fruit with loads of health benefits; it's ideal.
If you don't like seeds in your smoothies, feel free to strain it before imbibing this yumminess.

KISS MY BEERIES SMOOTHIE

1 Cup antioxidant berry mix
1 tsp almond butter
1 tsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp Spirulina powder
1 Scoop hemp protein
1 tsp Bao Bab powder
1 1/2 Cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 packet stevia (this is optional, I had to use it as my berry mix was eye watering tart)

Method:
-Throw all ingredients in blender & mix for 30-60 seconds until smooth.

Date & Almond Smoothie

Good day lovelies,
I am coping with a bit of a headache and being on anything electronic is not feeling so great; so this is a quick Tasty Tuesday post.
I am using dates to sweeten my smoothies more, they are lower sugar, become nice and plump when soaked, add dietary fiber, and have a nice caramelly taste. I chucked all these ingredients in my trusty bullet blender and really enjoyed the taste. It was a nice mild and filling way to start my day yesterday. I am working on a recipe for golden milk, will post that another day if I like it. For now, enjoy this one and grab some sun, we are finally are seeing the rain go away.

DATE AND ALMOND SMOOTHIE
Ingredients:
5-6 Dates with no pits, soaked overnight in water, then drained
1 Frozen banana or 1/2 Cup frozen mango
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp vanilla bean seeds or paste
11/2 Cup unsweetened almond milk
1 Tbsp roasted almond butter

Method:
Blend all & enjoy!

God bless you and Jesus guide your every step.

Misty Morning Green Smoothie, Day 24 of the 30 day Self-Love DetoxChallenge

Morning Lovelies,

We are nearing the final stretch of this 30 day challenge and I do want to put up some more health info, today is a simple smoothie to start your day off right. It gets protein in via almond butter & almond milk, Spirulina and I added extra green iron yumminess thanks to good ol' spinach. It is a nice mild taste for those of you who have a tough time with too much green strong flavours, in some of the more intense smoothies. I likes that I felt satiated for several hours after drinking this one and it went down smoothly. It does have banana in it, some people cannot do banana as it is difficult for them to digest. I recommend replacing it with 1/1 a ripe avocado an increasing the apple by another whole one. It won't taste exactly the same but it will still be smooth and filling; with the added bonus of more healthy fats!
It was grey, misty kind of raining when I made it and decided the name was apropos.

MISTY MORNING GREEN SMOOTHIE
Serves 1
Ingredients:
1 medium size ripe banana
1 apple
Handful of spinach leaves
1 generous tsp roasted almond butter
1 tsp maple syrup
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp Spirulina powder
1 1/2 Cups unsweetened almond milk

Method:
-Place all in blender and blend for 30 seconds or until all is smooth
-Serve immediately over ice or just drink it straight.
Enjoy!
Don't forget to subscribe & leave any comments or questions down below, I like hearing about your kitchen adventure's. God bless!

Day 15 Self Love Detox Challenge & Full Menu

Morning lovelies!

Another week & another menu that is really, a big one because we are transitioning to next Friday's juice/liquid 3 day cleanse.
YES, I know.
It is a deep breath, big things are happening kind of moment.
I suggest you really enjoy your cheat day because there isn't one for this coming week. Whaaaaat?
That's right peeps, we have worked our way up to the big one and it's going to be great!
Personally, week 3 is my fav. because my body is detoxing so much already, I can't wait to get to the juice fast. This week you will be having no eggs, no meat, sparse use of fish, and vegan, to get to juicing/liquids.
Also, this week: smoothies, detox waters, tea, and loads of water along with some fresh made juice, will be your best friends. So cozy up to them and mentally prepare for the challenge and tremendous feelings of positivism that wellness brings.
Challenges because you are detoxing which can be tough on the emotions & cravings but it's also change for the better; which we need to embrace. Along with a clearer mind, weight loss, clearer skin, better elimination (yes, I mean your poop shoot), & bursts of young energy, you will smile and feel more joy. This is truly a time of blessing, grace & gratitude.

Let's move forward, shall we?
So, we are covering smoothies and recipes for smoothies first and foremost. That is because these are very important in prepping your stomach for less solid foods, while still being nourished. I have a tendency to drink between 2 & 3 smoothies a day when gearing up for my juice fast.
First is for breakfast, when I workout I add vegan protein and 1/4 tsp of spirulina to my shake before my workout, & to my shake I have within 45 minutes of working out. This is to feed my muscles and keep recovery soreness and time to a minimum; plus Poppa Bear who is a personal trainer, said so. ;P
I am making you further responsible for your wellness by having you choose the smoothies & juices you want to make. The reasons are simple:

1-I do not know how busy or quiet your days are and this directly impacts the amount of calories you need to take in. You need to check your schedule, see the days you are busier and up your shake intake to between 2 & 3. Quieter days are between 1 & 2 shakes. Use shakes as a way to curb craving's, give energy, and help your body heal from exercising.

2- I do not know what ingredient's you still have left from the previous week's we have been doing this challenge. I don't want you spending needlessly, I want you to use what you have and add to that to keep your budget in check.

3-Let's face it, we all have certain fruit's & veg we cannot stand or that we adore; do what works for you but just remember to add your green's and the no refined sugar's rule still applies.

4-I want you to get used to doing this on your own, I held your hand the first week and now by week 3 you should be feeling more confident & comfortable with simple things, like smoothies, juices, grabbing recipes, and lastly, making menu's and grocery list's. You CAN do this!

Here are some amaze bomb smoothie recipes, feel free to use your own and if you want some of my older one's go all the way down below to the labels section of the blog and click on smoothie's. It will bring you to a bunch of tasty delight's!

Banana Mango Smooth is the perfect way to start your morning! The kids LOVE this smoothie recipe.

Healthy smoothie recipes to give you the boost of energy you need on Monday morning, delivered right to your inbox each week! Perfect as a quick, on the go meal, for breakfast, and for the whole family. Always compatible with a vegan, vegetarian, paleo, gluten-free, and whole foods diet. // Live Eat Learn:

*Really important to imbibe extra healthy and nourishing calories that feed and put healthy fuel in your tank. Make an effort to drink your smoothies for breakfast.
Breakfasts should look like this:
-Hot lemon & ginger water
-Smoothie
-After 1 hour have a fresh juice & handful of nuts. You can also add a full fruit or a small handful of dried fruit's with the nuts, just watch that they are unsweetened and don't do dried fruits too often.
-Water & Detox waters throughout the morning & day. If you are absolutely HANGRY, then grab some rawfood crackers, an avocado, or a bowl of chia pudding. Recipe for the crackers and pudding are on the blog under rawfood labels; look below.

Remember:You still need probiotics and digestive enzymes for lunch and dinner meals. Breakfast does not need enzymes this week, as you are breaking down the fruits & veg in your blender. Nuts & fruits are not hard for the body to break down.

Meals:

Same as last week, lunch & dinner's piggy back on each other. This week you are to make portions that last for 2-3 meals as the menu specifies. Don't make too much and don't make too little. Base your amounts on how many you are feeding, how active you are, and remember that you don't want a lot of leftovers as you will be juice fasting.

Pesto Zoodles - this is so good, I made with warm zoodles though:

Recipes are included for juices.
Meals and grocery lists are things you will  need to do some of the leg work on, seriously though, I have done most of the work for you. I have repeated some foods again as I find it easier to stick to this challenge, if you are comfortable with the recipes, have tasted and liked them, and can use the ingredient's you already have on hand.
So, this week will be a touch different as I am including your juices, loads of recipes and your juicing guidelines. The reason for all this is because I want you to be prepared mentally, grocery list and purchase wise, as well as familiarizing yourself with what you will be making for the juice fast days. It's not stressful, it's empowering and fun.
Go with it and remember, I am doing this with you and am rooting for success!

I need you to stick to the juicing rules:

-Sweeter juices first thing in the morning & as a snack in the earlier part of the afternoon.

-Juices for daily consumption with food should max at 2-3/day.

-Juices for juice fasts are usually 6-10/ juices per day

-You MUST drink green and more savoury juices to help your cells be nourished, detox, and regenerate. You are also making sure not to over feed bad bacteria by sticking to more green based drink's. It is alright to have an apple or a pear in a more vegetable based juice to cut some strong or bitter taste.

The recipe links for the above juices can be found in the juicing labels posts, just look down below in the labels section.

I found these on Pinterest and also the next pics, these are to give you a variety of recipes to mix and match as you please, while allowing you to try new flavours.

Remember the importance of green juices, especially in the evening to help regenerate and feed cells while assisting the detoxing process.

I recommend colonic irrigation to help with detox symptom's, if you can.

This blogger (sorry, I cannot find the link or name) has a great way of transporting her juices. I place mine in glass jars and one huge plastic jug with water. Do what works, just remember that you will be running to the bathroom more to urinate & for more bowel movements.
I am including this recipe for an electrolyte energy drink in case you are exercising or going for walks in warmer weather. It also helps with some of the detox symptoms. Strenuous exercise and tasks are not permitted on a liquid fast. No exceptions. This is rest and recoup time. Walks are great and encouraged, so are stretching and gentle forms of yoga.

Coming off your fast is just as important as how you prep for one. Here is a link to a write-up I did in an older post:

I will repost the juice stuff for next Friday cleanse weekend but it is the exact same recipes you see here. I want you to be able to plan ahead and be ready to start Friday so you can take it easy. There will be more detox and detox support info and a gentle 3 day re-introductory to food list.

I hope this is all going well, leave questions or comments down below and don't forget to subscribe.
God bless!

Vegan Raw Food Key Lime Pie Smoothie

Hi!
So, as I was searching for pie pics I discovered that key lime pie is extremely popular, there are so many ways people are getting creative and putting a cool twist on this tart and tangy dessert, made big in Florida a long time ago. There is the ever popular Key Lime Pie:

Then there are key lime pie stuffed strawberries-what a clever combo:

Key lime pie truffles!

Key lime pies in jars:

Key lime pie layered breakfast in a jar:

Delicious key lime pie raw vegan bars:

I could go on but I think it's pretty obvious that the humble lime has a ton of awesomeness in its sour middle. I have always preferred it to lemons although I use both a lot.
Many people believe that Limes are lemons that have not matured, this is actually incorrect. Limes are a citrus fruit all on their own, just like mandarins or grapefruit a word I always struggle to remember in English as it looks nothing like a grape but makes sense in French as it is a pamplemousse, but I digress. Here's some brief info on the lime before I get to the recipe:

Lemons and limes grow from different trees. Lemons grow from Citrus limon trees. Key limes grow from Citrus aurantifolia trees, and Persian limes grow from Citrus latifolia trees.
Persian limes produce lots of juice and are the limes that most grocery stores sell, and key limes are sweeter and used in many desserts. There are also other lime varieties. Trees that produce both lemons and limes can be created by grafting branches from one tree onto another tree. These are called fruit cocktail trees and are possible because lemon and lime trees are in the same plant genus, Citrus. However, fruit cocktail trees are not natural and can only be created artificially.

Limes are an excellent source of vitamin C, and are often used to accent the flavours of foods and beverages. They are grown year-round in tropical climates and are usually smaller and less sour than lemons, although varieties may differ in sugar and acidic content. Plants with fruit called "limes" have diverse genetic origins; "Limes" is not a monophyletic group.

The above info was from wiki and ask.com.

All this lime research has got me super psyched to create some new recipes, I am thinking raw food vegan lime truffles and raw food vegan key lime pie pops might be in our future. Awwwww yeah!
I hope you like tangy, pucker punch in your smoothie because this bad boy does just that and puts a smile on your face while doing it. The original recipe is from Living Raw Food by Sarma Melngailis, I found it way too sweet. Mainly because it contained agave which, if you follow this blog you know I don't like or agree with using. It needed some modification for my milder sweet tooth and honestly, I feel it's better for it. Bonus, everyone who has tried it swooned. This happened last Friday when I brought it for a few people to taste, so Nina, this one's for you! (Your heart can do a little happy dance when you have it again.)
Enjoy it people, remember to share with those you love, leave your comments on how it turned out for you down below, and don't forget to subscribe!

VEGAN RF KEY LIME PIE SMOOTHIE:

Ingredients:

1 ripe avocado
2 limes juiced (I like to add the zest of 1 lime but this is optional-no Nina it wasn't in the one you tasted ;p)
1 ripe banana
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp maple syrup (grade B, that's the darker one)
1 3/4 Cups brown apple juice, the real stuff not the yellow fake one. Feel free to juice your own.
Small pinch of pink sea salt

Method:
Throw it all in a blender and blend for 20-30 seconds maximum, if you do more it will become a gross frothy mix and you're really aiming for thick smoothie.
Must be served chilled, I like mine over ice.
Makes 2 servings.

Valentine's GF Vegan Smoothies: Creamy Spiced Banana N' Oat and Creamy Mango N' Oat

Hello Lovelies!
Today we are all about Valentine's Smoothies that say I looooooooove you AND I want you to stay healthy so you can be around for a looooong time.
Romantic and caring in one sip of yumminess. I say, DO IT!!!!!!!!
I know you saw Oats in the title and may have gone, whoa la
Fear not, for I used gluten-free oats and was quite happy. I will say that some people have a reaction to the proteins in oats even when they are GF, I personally indulge very rarely as I do not want to set any itchy rashes off, which oats that were not GF have done to me in the past. I have no problem with Mum's GF Oats and  I can tell when I am a bit more sensitive, digestion-wise on a given day. That's when I omit them and use Maca powder or I cook the oats and use those instead. Explore and do what works best.

Creamy Spiced Banana N' Oat Smoothie
Ingredients:
1/2 Ripe Organic Banana
2 Tbsp GF Mum's Quick Cooking Oat Flakes or use 1 Tbsp Maca Powder
1 Tbsp Unsweetened Almond Butter
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein of choice
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Pie Spice mix
1 Tbsp Grade B Maple Syrup
1 Cup Unsweetened Almond milk

Method:
-Place all in blender and blend for 30 seconds until smooth, add a bit of extra almond milk if too thick and serve immediately over ice.

I know there are some of you who need an alternative to bananas as not everyone can eat them, mangoes say love to me, so I am using them in this slight variation.

Creamy Mango N' Oat Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 Cup Mango chunks
1 Cup Unsweetened Almond milk
1 Tbsp Organic cold-pressed Coconut oil
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1Tbsp Unsweetened Almond butter
2 Tbsp Mum's GF Quick Cooking Oat Flakes or 1 Tbsp Maca Powder
1 Scoop Vanilla protein of choice

Method:
-All ingredients in blender, whizz for 30 seconds, serve immediately over ice.

Delicious and filling vegan bliss. Sigh...
Enjoy & spread the healthy love this Valentine's morning for you and your cutie patootie!
